The short version. Rate dishes honestly, under your own name, and don’t pretend to be someone else. Check in only when you are really at the restaurant. Menus and allergen notes come from the restaurant, so always check with them before you eat. We can remove reviews that break these rules.
Rewards come from the restaurants, never from us. Lucky Bite, stamp cards, invites and any other reward are offered, paid for and given by each restaurant. Seb’s Analytics and Fork’s Rating do not give away food or discounts; we only provide the tools a restaurant uses to run its own rewards.
The Hungry Fork is operated by Seb’s Analytics LLC, a limited liability company in the State of New York. By using thehungryfork.fun or creating an account, you agree to these terms.
The Hungry Fork shows restaurant menus and collects ratings and comments from people who have eaten the dishes — we call them tasters. Fork’s Rating is the score those tasters produce. We are not paid by restaurants to raise a score, and restaurants cannot remove a review they dislike.
When you rate a dish, you are saying that you actually ate it and that the opinion is your own. Beyond that:
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting it, you give Seb’s Analytics LLC permission to display it on The Hungry Fork and on forksrating.com, and to use it in the aggregate research described in our Privacy Policy.
A check-in is a record that you were at a restaurant on a particular day. You tap Check In, your phone shows a code for ninety seconds, and a member of restaurant staff confirms it. When you arrive with a booking and staff scan the booking’s QR code at the door, that counts as a check-in too, for the account that made the booking or the account with the booking’s phone number. Checking in is optional; it is what makes your visit count for a restaurant’s rewards — see Rewards, Lucky Bite and invites below.
A check-in is a record, not a promise. It does not by itself entitle you to anything. Where a restaurant chooses to offer something for returning customers, that offer is the restaurant’s — see Rewards, Lucky Bite and invites below.
We think you should know exactly where the power sits, because it is what makes a rating worth reading:
Restaurant staff maintain their own menus here: prices, descriptions, what is sold out. We do not verify what they enter, and it can be out of date or wrong.
If you have a food allergy or intolerance, do not rely on this website. Allergen information shown here is provided by the restaurant, may be incomplete, and can change without notice — recipes and suppliers change, and kitchens share equipment.
Always speak to restaurant staff directly before you order. Seb’s Analytics LLC does not prepare the food and is not responsible for what a kitchen serves you.
In New York City, the Health Department inspects restaurants and gives each one a letter grade — A, B or C — on a card the restaurant must post where people passing by can see it.
The grade shown on a restaurant’s pages here is chosen by that restaurant. A restaurant can show A, B or C, or choose to show no grade at all: whether to show it here is up to the restaurant. Seb’s Analytics LLC and Fork’s Rating do not inspect restaurants, and we do not check, confirm or update the grade a restaurant shows. The restaurant is responsible for showing only the grade on its current Health Department card, and for changing or removing it when that grade changes.
The official grade is the card posted at the restaurant and the inspection results the NYC Health Department publishes on nyc.gov. If what you see here is different, the Health Department’s grade is the right one — please tell us at advisory@sebsanalytics.com.
Neither Seb’s Analytics LLC nor Fork’s Rating gives away food, drinks, discounts or prizes, and neither pays for them. Every reward on this site — a Lucky Bite, a full stamp card, an invite’s discount, or any other promotion — is offered, paid for and honoured by the restaurant that chose to run it. We provide the tools the restaurant uses to run its own rewards: we keep the count, show the reward, and record when it is used.
The restaurant decides. Each restaurant chooses whether it runs any of these, what they give and how many dishes or visits they take, and can change or end them at any time. Whether and how a reward is honoured is the restaurant’s decision, and any question or disagreement about a reward is between you and that restaurant.
Each reward has the restaurant’s own terms and conditions. A restaurant cannot run a reward without writing them. You can read them on the restaurant’s reward terms page, and from the “Terms and conditions apply” link shown with every reward. They apply together with these Terms: for that reward, the restaurant’s terms apply, but they cannot change what these Terms say about us, your account or your information.

We never ask you for money. The Hungry Fork is free to use. We do not take payments, we do not hold card details, and no one on this site will ever ask you to pay for anything. If you are ever asked to pay to claim something you saw here, it did not come from us — write to advisory@sebsanalytics.com and tell us.
We do our best to keep the site running, but it is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, or free of mistakes. We may change or stop parts of it. If we close the service entirely, we will give you notice and a way to get your reviews first.
The Hungry Fork is a free service. To the fullest extent the law allows, Seb’s Analytics LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
You can ask us to close your account at any time by writing to advisory@sebsanalytics.com. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why.
If we change these terms, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any dispute belongs to the courts of that state.
